Over the past weeks TUDSaT received a lot of parce Over the past weeks TUDSaT received a lot of parcels each containing components for the first OBC for our CubeSat. We are now in the process of assembling, testing and evaluating the boards so we can send them out to our developers. With this board we are able to take the next development steps and answer open questions. Stay safe and tuned for more. 🚀⁣

Today, we would like to introduce Julian Olbrich, Today, we would like to introduce Julian Olbrich, leader of the CubeSat Structure Team.⁣
⁣
1. When did you join the association and what are your tasks?⁣
-> I joined back in 2019 and I’m currently leading the CubeSat Structure subsection. Therefore I’m responsible for getting the CubeSat into orbit in one piece and keeping its structural integrity while also giving the other subsections as much space for their modules as possible.⁣
⁣
2. What are you studying and how did you come from your studies to joining TUDSaT?⁣
-> I study mechanical engineering and wanted to join TUDSaT for a long time but never got around to it until I finally went to an open meeting. After that I decided to stay.⁣
⁣
3. What makes TUDSaT so special for you?⁣
-> TUDSaT gives every interested student the opportunity to get a peak into the relatively small but exciting world of aerospace engineering. You don’t need extensive knowledge of building spacecraft to join, just a little bit of interest in space and exploration is all it takes to be part of our great team.⁣

Here is an update on our control demonstrator. In order to verify our theoretical model, we have measured various thrust curves, both for lift and for lateral force. We were happy to find that the theory coincides with the practical application and soon will be able to control the demonstrator attitude in an gimbal. ⁣

Today, we would like to introduce Philipp Buhr, le Today, we would like to introduce Philipp Buhr, leader of the Rocket Structure team.⁣
⁣
1. When did you join the association and what are your tasks?⁣
-> I joined TUDSaT in 2017 when the rocket project was born. Since then I’ve been a member of the ‘structure’ subsection and have been the subsection leader for the last two years. So besides managing the progress of the development of our ‘Athena 0’ water rocket series I’ve been in touch with pretty much all aspects of the system: flight stability, CAD design and 3D printing of components, flight simulation, as well as lots of hands-on work with the fibreglass tank and the rocket itself.⁣
⁣
2. What are you studying and how did you come from your studies to joining TUDSaT?⁣
-> Initially I was studying Civil Engineering when I heard about TUDSaT. However I was already planning to switch to Mechanical Engineering to become an engineer in the space sector, so I followed the Spacecraft Propulsion lecture at TU Darmstadt. This is where I met other students who ended up founding the rocket section at TUDSaT.⁣
⁣
3. What makes TUDSaT so special for you?⁣
-> As probably most students here I like the excitement for space flight and the work attitude that unites all of us TUDSaT members. All the work that is being done here is a result our own enthusiasm. The same goes for our approach to tackle our engineering problems. Everyone who wants to contribute can do so whithout being bound to any obligations.⁣
At the same time I am grateful for the many friendships that have arisen over time, and I’m already excited to learn where all these great people will end up in the space industry 😉⁣
